Update : got it running good turns out there was oil or grease on the points cause somebody extremely overgreased the magneto base so I suspect that some made its way to the points or I got grease on my feeler gauge and thats how it got there. I doubt it was caused by a leaking upper crank seal...
Well just I’ve heard that corrosion on the plug boots can cause issues.the coils are new, condensers are new, points are new and set to 20 thousandths, but plug wires seem factory that’s why I think there the issue.
I don’t have an adjustable gap spark tester yet so what I did is I hooked my lamp style spark tester up and it seems like every time the motor idle roughs up I loose spark on top cylinder. So issue is unconstant spark in top cylinder. I’m going to get a new plug to check that but could this be...
I tried to clean the slow speed previously with a wire and carb cleaner but never took the Welsh plug out might order carb kit and look under that plug.
Thanks I’ll look at the resistance tomorrow but sorry I forgot to mention I replaced the condensers with the points. The previous owner put new coils on it but failed to put new plug wires on so I’ll check those out. It’s got spark in both cylinders but don’t know how strong it is or if it’s...
Hey everybody, I got a 25 Johnson that spits and sputters at idle and sometimes likes to die at idle. Sometimes it seems like a "lean sneeze" but when I adjust the idle mixture and richen it until the motor dies the coughing never disappears. The motor only does this when it gets warmed up and...
So I got a 7.5 chrysler made sea king from 1984, I need the serial off it but the plate where the serial was on the outboard mount is broken. So I was wondering if there was anywhere else the serial number was located on this outboard?
So I’m doing an impeller change on an 83 Chrysler sea king 7.5 and I can’t figure out how to get the water pump housing off because it surrounds the shifting rod which starts to curve so I can’t pull the housing straight off. I am wondering what I have to do in order to get the housing off, I...
So I’ve been working on an ‘83 7.5 Chrysler with no spark on either cylinder. I went ahead and replaced the stator, trigger, and the cdi/ignition coil. I’ve checked all grounds and disconnected the kill wires to avoid the kill switch. Even after all this I still have no spark any ideas as to...
So I’ve been working on a ‘83 7.5 Chrysler and noticed the black plastic cam follower that helps move the throttle linkage on the carb is broken. Part number is F525316-1 but the problem is they don’t make em anymore. Does anybody know what I could do to fix this? I am providing a pic below
So I got the coils off the outboard as that’s the easiest thing to tackle first, I see there is rust on the back of them and tiny holes in the back (pics below). Then I hooked up a multimeter and tested the coil with a multimeter and got a reading of 0.0-0.1 ohms on one coil and 0.1-0.2 ohms on...
