    I have a 1980 MerCruiser 5.7 MCM 260. If I put a small amount of gas down the carburetor the the engine fires until that gas is used up. I have replaced the fuel pump and the water separator. Being there are 2 ports on the fuel pump does it matter which one goes to the separator and which one...

    No power to starter

    1980 Mercruiser 260. I have power to the red wire on the key switch when the battery is on. I have power to the purple wire on the key when key is in run position only, not start.. There is no power to the yellow/red wire in start mode.

    new starter only makes clunk sound

    Overheating while in gear

    Have been having a problem with overheating of my 1980 alpha 1. I replaced the water pump on the motor and the lower unit. When the boat is in neutral it does not overheat but when it is in gear it starts to overheat with barely any water flow.

    Lower unit wont mate up

    Installed a new water pump in the lower unit of a 1980 Mercruiser sterndrive serial number 5583873. Upon following all the directions in the Seloc manual the lower unit will not mate up. It comes within an inch and no farther.
