Can I use one of those disposable homeowners torch yellow bottle? If so, how long should I heat the skeg from each side before attempting to straighten.

I was drifting down the wind and hit a log with my outboard. Even though it was trimmed up it was hard to see and the result ended up being a bent skeg. Is there a way it can be bent back?
Thanks for the reply. I guess I can keep my eye on it. I told them to check out thermostat and see if its showing good. It is 2 years old and might be the issue.

There are two places that I can go to. One of them said they dont weld and the other guy gave me a run down how this whole thing needs to be one solid peace. Suggesting a new lower unit.
This one is completely broken off. I called my dealer and they said they will check out the lower unit to make sure there is no other damage.. If there is no damage they said they will send it to Mercury to weld a new skeg on.
Estimate for that was $650 with shipping. And 30-45 day lead time.
