Does anyone know the size and thread pitch for the steering bracket to motor bolts (EFI 25hp Mercury)
I found the part number (#27):
10-879194258
However, I am headed out of town and don’t have time for them to be shipped.
I imagine I could get a standard hardware store SS bolt to match if I...
Just an update, I was able to stick a 1" PVC pipe perfectly in the thermostat hole to backflush the motor. I also then ran it with no thermostat to flush a lot of water through the block. I also pulled the fuel cooler hoses and some more debris came out.
So far, running great again. Looks like...
Yeah, I planned to pull the gearcase anyway to make sure the new impeller didn't sustain any damage from back pressure.
The tell tale on this motor comes off the fuel cooler. I did pull it off there, seems like good water pressure, but it did eject a bit of debris. The cooling system on this...
Yes, just getting things setup to backflush through the thermostat hole. I think I will 'forward' flush first for 10-20 seconds to avoid pushing debris back down in the impeller, then back flush. Wish there was a way to back flush the powerhead on these motors...
The IR gun is a great...
Hello,
I have a 2008 Mercury 25hp EFI with ~300 hrs (motor sat unused until 2015). It's a freshwater motor.
Recently, while parked in a cove with lots of fine wood debris, I did my best to splash fresh water on the intakes before starting, but while sitting it must have already gotten jam...
Hi Folks -
If anyone followed our other thread on the 1987 Johnson 90, we fried it and rigged our kicker, a Honda BF30 as the main motor. We will post on how we did the DIY tiller conversion later.
Long story short, max RPM is 4500, motor is rated for 5700-6200 RPM so we are definitely...
Hi Folks -
Was trying to get our small houseboat off the beach the other day and stupidly overheated the motor in reverse at around 4k RPMs. It didn't stall out but was seized when I tried to restart it. Grey/black smoke and smelled like a BBQ. Upon inspection I melted some plastic wire...
Hi Folks -
As the title states I have a 2001 BF30 on a 1963 Boston Whaler 13'. Boat weighs around 600lbs with outboard and gas. It came with a 9.9x9 pitch prop and tops out at 23-24mph, 6200 rpm.
I bought a 9.9x13 prop which is only 1" up from the stock 9.9x12 and I can only reach 4700rpm...
Hello -
Just ordered a new solas 9.9x13 prop for my Honda BF30 and found that neither of my thrust washers (identical) fit inside the hub assembly of the prop as they do with my Honda prop and another unmarked prop. I still have enough threads to bolt it on fine but am worried if there might be...
Hello -
Yesterday we stupidly rowed through some really thick, nasty wood debris. It was a layer a several inches thick if mostly small wood chips with sand and mud. Given our setup, you cannot lift the motor clear out of the water so the raw water intake inevitably got some debris in it...
Hello Folks,
As the title states, I have the opportunity to pick up a 1963 Boston Whaler 13' with a Honda BF30 Tiller for $2500.
I've read all I can about the 13's, and mostly like what I read, so my concern is more with the vintage than the size/design of the hull. Is it a risky move to buy...
