failed heat treatment on the worm allowed the teeth to deform and wipe out the teeth on the wheel. Additionally, centrifugal cast C91700 was spec'd and the vendor used sand-cast C91700 which is about 60% the strength. so the worm wheel failed sooner than it should.
So, built wrong and it broke.

There is a lot of Shear with that interface.
It's also compounded because the gear should be almost twice as large for the loads we are seeing in order to use cheaper materials....... Because sales wants smaller....smaller....smaller....more power density

they dig after the grubs in your yard. get rid of the grubs, you wont have moles or armadillos

Glad it's in for the season. Glad he got to go out and enjoy it. Sucks I'm running the plant. The haze in the sky is from the fire about 10 miles south.
