Never been on one and think of them as petri dishes

Looking into with friends going on Norwegian lines in November. There are several balcony places facing Aft but only so many facing Fwd. Looks like both have King beds and both talk about 2 beds which make a queen. Inside rooms have 2 twins, but I want a king bed

Anyone cruise on these things that has a balcony and do all balcony rooms have kings?

Two twins make a king. On ships that is what you are getting, Hard to move king size beds around those ships.

I have four twins that stack on each other in our master guest room. I keep them as two kings stacked but if needed I can make two king or four twin or...

We have been on a few NCL cruises. We "upgraded" to the basement on one trip when we upgraded to the drink package and went from 7th floor to 4th.

We had a lot of excursions booked, and usually just crashed in the room

If it is piece and quiet that you have in mind, a cruise ship is not what you want. Half the time it feels like a circus with too many people in too small a place and you can't get off.

Exact description of the cruises I had thanks to Uncle Sam and the USN.

Why pay extra to sleep with a windows, at night?

That is a nicer one then I had on my Ice Breaker. You had anti-roll out bars, we didn't, we had seat belts
I can only imagine how noisy it must be below decks when they are working. Was it that bad?

Or son convinced us to take a cruise after he had a wonderful experience. We just completed our 16th cruise and have 17 and 18 booked.

Petri dish....pfffft. Wash your hands once in awhile, man.

We tried a ocean view once.....pffft. Gotta have a balcony. They all have the king bed option. Interiors may be cheaper, but they also have less space. The cost savings is not worth not having a view.

We are now confirmed cruisers and we now stick with Princess. An older crowd. Our last cruise had maybe 30 kids total, and they stayed on the sports deck. No problem with noise. If you want to hear a live band and sit in the hot tub, one pool will be the place to go. If you want to relax, go to the second pool. If you simply want quiet and solitude the Serenity deck and pool will be your place.

Princess has upgraded everything in recent years. You walk around with a medallion on your neck (or wrist, whatever) When you are ready for a beer or a ham sammich, you type it in your cellphone and a waiter brings it to you. When you walk up to your cabin the door shows your picture and it opens for you. The medallion is linked to the picture they took when you boarded, so the crew knows who you are and that's how they can deliver right to your location.

Last year we celebrated our 50th anniversary aboard. That was in our profile so we got greeting everywhere.

We had 3 trips cancelled when covid hit. One was Alaska. That is now rescheduled for next year.

Our favorites were Fl to CA thru the Panama Canal, and CA to Hawaii and back.

Now you got me excited. I'm anxious to get the boat back in the water, but I can't wait to get her back out because we are booked for 12 days in the Caribbean next October.

I never heard anyone say they didn't like the cruise, and most first timers said they will come back.

Wife was agnostic about her first and only cruise. Other than an Alaskan, prob wont be a second one.

My wife and I used to cruise a lot, always on Royal Caribbean...had many great times. AL:WAYS in a room with a balcony, THAT cost is worth it. These days they "get you" with extra charges wherever they can. The drink packages are ludicrous in cost...same for most excursions. I always recommend getting the trip insurance.
