It's a mess trying to get out some of those pumps. I do what I can when servicing them. Once out I'll fabricate an aluminum flat bar stock to mount the pump on, slide it where it needs to be and attach the new bracket to the side of a stringer. Makes future serviceing much easier!

A lot of those pumps have screens under the pump body. Under the screens, which are not fastened, are 2 - 4 screws.

Why do you ...HAVE ...to remove the base of any pump ?
Leave it there !! Install your new pump so you can use same ...LENGTH .... of hose and wires. I have left the whole old pump there. Works every time with no leaks. Or ripped skin.

I agree.....but maby not the mfgrs....often they make changes to the newer models so they won't fit the old platform. Or...the sell the company then the new owners make changes so the old won't fit. We call it progress, but I have other names for it !!
