Hello all, new here. In the process of installing a new impeller on my Alpha I Gen II outdrive using Don's information from service manual 14. Is there a more recent manual and if so, is the procedure the same? Not asking for a copy, just wondering if it is any different regarding the water pump install. The Quicksilver kit I got comes with the metal "small hole" gasket and I've found a few conversations about the metal gasket that has been helpful, but I was wondering if a newer manual addresses it.

the gasket and lower plate kit are different than was originally used on gen 2 s. nothing different in manual, just replace in correct order. I have had merc tell me to put the metal gasket on dry, mechanic at the place I bought the impeller kit say to use permatex #3 on it, done it both ways either works fine.

Only thing to look at is if there is corrosion and pitting on the drive housing where baseplate sits

Dont over think it

There was some corrosion on the drive housing, I used a gasket scraper and then scotch brite to clean and smooth it out. Probably wouldn't hurt to put a little permatex #3 when mating the new metal gasket? I'd guess six of one, half of dozen of the other... ;)

yes a like #3 is no issue

biggest change was original baseplate had a rubber gasket now its a thin metal one
