I need to replace the fuel pump assembly on my 5.0 GXI and would prefer to buy an aftermarket pump. I am looking for input on good (or bad) brands/manufacturers.

I bought a back up pump off of Amazon and used it while I rebuilt my OEM. I can't remember what brand it was but it worked fine while I used it. Look for a brand that has the best reviews I`d say.

Have to agree
If your working on a carb motor, about all of them will work, some better than others

If this is EFI, well that can be a different issue

They all have paint and will all fail again so either strip it before installing or plan on replacing again soon. I got 3 hours out of my last one. I took my new one apart and completely stripped all the paint before installing it.

Agreed we need to know what you’re working on. I rebuilt my Carter on a 5.0. As Bondo said we need more info.

Sorry I didn't include that. It's a Volvo Penta - I posted it here because I never got any replies on the Volvo Penta forum. It's a 5.0L GXI, so multi-port EFI. Aftermarket prices are all over the place from $150 - $650 with a couple even higher. Some have really bad reviews, most have no reviews and only a few of them have a brand name on them. I am about to sell the boat, but I don't want to get the cheapest thing out there, knowing the next person may get stranded somewhere as a result.
