55hp johnson idle issue ?

i have a johnson seahorse 55hp 55el77d and it will idle for a minute and then die like it runs out of fuel almost .the guy i boat the boat from said the gas tank vent was bad so i replaced the gas tank and it kinda helped .but i tried pumping the primer bulb every like 30 seconds and it idles fine so would that mean a fuel pump or a carb float or what?

Could be any of what you mentioned, portable tank or built in ? When you replaced the tank, did you replace the vent ?
