Swap mercruiser 5.0 for a 5.7

Any tips for an engine swap. I have a good running 5.7 alpha 1 thunderbolt from 1989 to put in place of seized 5.0 thunderbolt from 1991.
Working engine was paired with alpha one gen1
The hull I want to put it in has an alpha one gen2.
Both carbureted,

Will this work?

I did this a few years ago in a 2000 model but would expect it to go the same for you especially if you have the same intake setup. I swapped carburetors on mine so I had to work on bracketry and fuel lines but it was easy and everything else bolted into place.

yes zero issue keep the gen 2 drive and transom housing 5.7 should drop in
