I get no spark on 2005 Mercury 9.9 4-stroke.I was thinking disconnect kill wire but can't find it. Since picture upload is not functioning. It is remote start which works fine. I use an external start button. Stator tests good .

This is from a 2007 Tohatsu owner's manual for a 9.9 four stroke. There has to be wires from either the lanyard kill switch of the push to stop switch at the end of the tiller handle.

Motor was converted to remote control, no tiller arm or wires. I understand how kill wiring works, but there is no black yellow kill wire anywhere. I'm trying to figure out why no spark.coil and stator ohm tests good.

Find the 4 pin connector on the electronic control unit. The brown wire is the kill. Should change to black/yellow before it goes to the stop switches.

edit --- should have said disconnect it where it changes from brown to blk/yel

I found a brown wire that turns to green which then goes to solenoid. My thumb is covering the brown wire. I wonder if someone hasn't changed it. Anyways I am thinking you are right but I haven't been able to test yet because it is about to start pouring rain here in Florida. I will let you know later after I can get to it. Thanks for your insight.

Kill switches are not usually wired to solenoids.

I would trace youe spark plug wires back to the coils, and then trace the coil wires back to the source of the spark. The kill switch will be wired to the coils or the source of the power to the coils, maybe even under the flywheel.
