Will boat for this style trailer?

Before I get too deep into swapping trailers…will this style trailer work? I bought this trailer and Jon boat Monday. I wanted this trailer (2019) to replace my misfit other one.

Now I see what you meant by Vee Block, That looks like a Bow Stop

Should work. You might have to adjust the Bunks a bit. Hopefully they are High enough that the Bow doesn't hit the Crossmembers when Launching Loading

Maybe that v block has been the problem all along. If it were a roller it might just slide right off.

The rear of the trailer should be at the rear of the boat to support it properly. There are trailers that have a set or roller bunks that extend beyond the rear of the trailer frame to support the stern of the boat ( I have one), but the one in your pics is not built for that. Without your boat sitting on the new trailer, we can't tell for sure. The new trailer needs keel rollers for sure, bunks should be adjustable, as long as they support the hull all the way to the stern, even better if bunks stick out an inch or two.

I wouldn't worry about the lack of Keel Rollers, I have had several Trailers, both Bunk and Roller, that didn't have them. It is my Belief that more Hulls are damaged by incorrectly adjusted Keel Rollers than any other Trailer Maladjustment

I had the guy measure the trailer for me before I bought it, I was 2 hours away. He told me trailer is 18. .i just measured and It’s 17.

. Gonna be too short as well. Im gonna take it to ramp tonight see how she fits making swap but im not overly optimistic. Lesson I keep relearning folks. Don’t trust anybody.

If you don’t adjust the bunks before you try it your keel is going to be sitting on the frame cross members. That trailer will probably be OK for your boat but it’ll take some time to set it up properly.

I’m going to take it to river tonight and see how it does. My measurements show it being ok but until it’s on the trailer I’m not sure how she’ll fit

Here is the boat on my new trailer. Lots of good. It’s going to work. I’d say it’s a touch short but way better than it was before. I did run into a little bit of trouble with the keel running against the third crossmember (closest to bow). The river is WAY down so I think I’ll probably get a hitch extension to try out. I might need to stall a roller there or grab my vee block off my other trailer.

Can the Bunks be raised a bit? You can move the Bow Stop forward to bring the Boat Forward. The Axle might need to be moved, if the Tongue is too heavy, but that is just part of Adjusting a Trailer to the Boat

I don’t know they can be raised without some external parts. I’m sure I can buy something though. I just learned last night there is a difference between Jon and v hull trailers. (I’m sure everyone else knows this already) The cross members on the v hull trailer will be recessed to prevent just this.

Just add a couple of pieces of 2X4 to the Bottom of the Bunks where they are attached to the Brackets...

Extend those bunks rearward to support that transom, then add a keel roller on that cross member so the bow doesn't hit. Do yourself a big favor and add some side bunks to keep boat centered. You could just raise the front mount of the bunks to get the bow a little higher. My boat sits at an angle to the trailer tongue ( bow is higher) makes shallow ramp launch and loading much easier. I would keep the rear bunk kount as low as possible to help with shallow ramps.

I have a couple 2x4x8 I’ve been saving for such an occurrence. I’ve seen some guys say pressure treaded good, good some say not good. What say you?

The Chemicals used in Pressure Treating the Lumber, do not coexist well with Aluminium.

I agree with Jimbo. If you don’t have access to say Douglas Fir, untreated Yellow Pine or something stronger than White Pine framing lumber the next best option would be to cover the treated lumber with a flashing tape to keep the wood separate form the hull. Chemicals will still leach through the carpet on the bunks. You need a barrier there.
