Guess that is why I stick with older, nice boats and motors, easier to beat the high cost.
Yeah. There was a lot more wood and glass to go through on a cuddy than there is on a bow rider as it turns out. I keep telling myself, what new mint boat with fresh power are you going to get for 20k.... its an illness.

The forward little cabin is a great seasick place. Or sun sensitive hideout. Dry food & clothing. Storage in rough water condition.

So.....

I have an across the whole boat stern tie down, never liked it but i had strap so replaced it but in just three years is fraying already. I just had the trailer modified for installing side bunk correctly while I was at it and we added to be able to use tie down straps on the rope eyes on the stern.

So my question is..... since the old strap was fraying should the expense of new be placed under maintenance or improvement or best yet since it could pop whilst on the road it should go to safety which is really not accountable to any set budget. Right????????

I'm about 60 and my 21st boat and this is my first budget. Retirement income is scary.....
It certainly can be......when an opportunity comes along to make a few extra bucks, I usually take them, just for spending money on boat or a nice dinner with the wife. We are 75 and 73 and doing ok finnancially, but have not had any major life changing issues ( yet)...we don't travel as wife is disabled nor do we have summer homes etc. Wife can no longer boat, so I have downsized so so can get out for a few hours and put fish in the freezer, so I guess my boat is a necessity ! Can't recall how many boats I have owned over my 60 plus years, but I do know one thing....I run out of fingers and toes when I try to count them all !!

Yeah I'm doing handyman work to cover booze and boats, and she doesnt go with me much so downsized to this plus too old to launch 26 footers by myself. Wife still works it's just the pending finality of it all. First time I've been this old and wasn't expecting to get here.
