Think I just want to vent
Hauled tractor to a tire store for a new set of tires. Hauled it out, guy pointed to where I could park it which was on a slight hill. Stopped and took out of gear, engaged parking pin lever, and left.
Picked up tractor, loaded, stopped tractor, took out of gear, engaged parking pin lever. Chained it up and drove home.

Get home, unload and try to attach batwing and tractor will not stay when I engage parking pin lever. Get off tractor and verify lever is moving cable and pin should be engaging, but I can roll it. Appears something in the trans broke.

Reading online this is an expensive repair. Called the tire store and he said he had to put a block against the wheel to keep it from rolling. Says he knows how to drive a tractor, the issue does he know how to drive mine? I'm guessing he put trans in 1 (was in low range) let the clutch out without disengaging the parking lever.

So guess I'm going to drain and remove the side cover to see if it's just the paw or I need a $10K plus repair because I wanted a new set of tires

Talked to 2 dealers and I'll be taking the tractor the second one. First one never did one and was having a hard time figuring it out. Gave him my phone number and said he would call/text. No response in 3 days

Next dealer is an older guy and went straight into what it will take because he's done them before. Says it's time consuming but not that hard. Told me the guy that broke the paw (says it's like a sheeps foot wrench) most likely he didn't even know he did it. Says if the tractor is moving even real slow and the parking lever is moved into Park, it snaps the teeth off the paw, has to be completely stopped. Says it will be about $3700 but would need to re-figure when he has time. Said call him in a month

Least it's not 10K

Do you have to have it ? like if I got told the parking pawl on my car was broken ( surprised its not :)) and it was going to cost thousands Id just start using the handbrake . The only person to use the handbrake in my car is the guy who does the annual roadworthy test ....he is also the only person who uses the rear seatbelts.

The tractor uses a hydraulic actuated transmission with shuttle shift. This means that there is nothing other than the parking paw to keep it from rolling when turned off. It does not have a cable operated brake system, so leaving it even in gear does nothing, it will still roll

Some have cut a 2x4 to length and place it between seat and brake pedals, but I'm not going to try that
