The original tilt pin has corroded over the years with recent saltwater usage rapidly increasing the corrosion. The current available part number is 432453. Is there any chance this new replacement part number is made out of 304 or 316 stainless steel? If not, would it be worth fabricating one out of 316 stainless steel or would I just be dealing with more corrosion of the tilt pin holes in the mid-section?

I would machine one out of an old 4 / 5 / 6 HP driveshaft.---No way that I would pay for a new factory part.

They did make a submersible stainless one. Try one made after 1992.

Common problem.

Or, wire wheel yours and coat it in grease...good grease.

Good luck

Given there is no reference to the material being stainless steel, I agree the new OEM tilt pin cost is out of line. I'll give the Amazon aftermarket option a try even though it only mentions "premium stainless steel". I doubt it's 316 stainless, but I could be wrong. Thanks for the replies.

regular preventive maintenance ( grease) should take care of things for the next 38 years or even longer ! .

Yes, I'll take the grease over the Amazon pin any day of the week and twice on Sunday, but I also have about about 7 of those pins you seek (oem stainless)

Both, non stainless and OEM stainless work great, one just requires a little massaging.

I'm sure your pin will be fine, it's just a pin.
