I think we have seen the last of the freezing weather here in NJ. I have the bottom and topside paint, so I am ready to fit-out the boats

I don't think so here in Central PA ... We have a few more sub freezing temps to see before we hit sweating continuously weather.

The Michigan Mackinac bridge was closed due to falling ice today. We had 70 and 80*F the last few days, her at the shore. I guess it is still winter in the U.P.

That's too Effin Hot, I run the AC in my house as soon as the Snow is gone. 20C(68F) is plenty warm, and 30C(86F) is unbearable.

The funny thing is that some people think that the folks in the north are just aching for warmth and sunshine. I do like it, but give me -30 and snow any day over 98 degrees. You couldn't pay me enough to live somewhere that hot.

Luckily we only see temps like that a couple of times per summer.

I’m with ya there. I would much rather have to put on another layer to stay warm than be naked and burning up with no where to cool off.

New Jersey usually gets two weeks of extreme heat and extreme cold (by NJ standards) each year. Here at the shore that translates to about 5-7 days of whole house air conditioning per year. Obviously, the heat needs to be used from Nov until Mar/April.

The older I get the less tolerance I have for the 4 months of lousy weather we get in southern NYS. In the winter it's either moderately cold and wet (disgusting) or freezing cold and dry (I actually prefer that). The summers here are great, 80-90s moderate humidity and not many hurricanes. That 4 months of lousy weather I hate for another reason, it just ruins everything.
The constant dampness means condensation all over your vehicles, which is the main cause of corrosion here, not salted roads. As we all know that constant humidity is bad for boats, it rots wood, seats get mildew etc. Your house will have mold on the north/east part of the roof and any part of a plastic fence that doesn't get sun. Sandy soil and moisture = termites, you have to get a baiting system to keep them out of your house.
I'm ready for something different. Not Florida, but temperate but DRY climate. The only benefit to this is we don't get wildfires hardly ever but it did happen during a drought on eastern Long Island back in 1995 or so.
