96 70hp 2stroke. I know i have a bad stator as it is grounded when i check yellow wires for continuity to ground. In the process of investigating this i discovered my fuel enrichment solenoid is plugged in in the a.c. side of the regulator( the blue wire that runs all the way to the solenoid for the fuel). Is this an a.c. solenoid is it wired wrong? Help please.

measure how far the needle sticks out while cold and then hook it up to a 12 v battery for a few minutes to see if it extends.

you really need to get a service manual for your motor
it has all the info you need for working on the motor
Yamaha service manual should have the ohms specs
and other specs and procedures

do you know that there are charge coils ,pulsar coils and lighting coils in what you are calling the stator

Another 1 is ordered so i have a second one at home and one at the boat. Naturally the manual is home on thr bench and I'm here at the lake. I was just confused on the wiring. The fact that it went to an a.c. source tripped me out. I thought what I always thought I new maybe wrong. I was in the middle of fixing a charging issue and discovered this. Thank you for your help.

It is not a solenoid. It is merely a resistive heating device that can be powered by AC or DC. Powered by AC from the lighting coil when the motor is running or powered by DC from a battery when being tested.

When cold it allows more fuel to flow helping to start a cold motor. When warm it stops the extra fuel flow since a warm motor does not need extra gasoline.
