Always put the rubber strap from the transom saver, I don't know, in the field across the road. Or, don't wear Crocs, but I'd do both. I was working in a small space between the back on my boat and my fish cleaning sink, the table with the sink makes a good workbench. I had my new water diverters in, heads torqued to spec, new temp sensors in place, the water covers were on, as were the coils, plugs, and wires. As I stepped away to admire my work and start gathering the tools spread over a quarter acre. The hook on the rubber strap hooked into one of the holes in my left Croc. Lucky for me, there was a dry-rotten plastic trash can there to break my fall. I'll live, only a few cuts and a couple bruises. But it did kinda ruin my evening.

Be Aware of your surroundings.....we all have been there a time or two. Kind of a wakeup call to remind us to pay attention. Don't have enough fingers and ties to count the dumb things I have stumbled over....you survived is what counts !

Man, that sucks! I'm glad you survived it well enough. As an old guy, I've taken my share of falls, even when I think I'm clear of objects. But, the ol' dropfoot happens and I'm not as clear as I think. A couple years ago I did a faceplant into a floor jack. No fun. Got yelled at in the ER.

Couple weeks back I changed out filters, I had the engine cover up to check for leaks went to check the gauges then backed up and my calf came in contact with the belt, yeah it took skin but also cauterized it didn't bleed it took 6 weeks for the wound to heal.

They are very comfortable for my back as an indoor shoe. I also do not give two turds about what anybody thinks about what I put on my feet.
I couldn’t care less what anyone thinks of my foot wear as well. I just would not wear those. I’ve never worn sandals in my life as well.

Like batteries, they make cheap versions for the value stores but also sell good ones in Crocs stores and online. In my 40s after suffering through my second plantar fascia tear, my doctor recommended getting a set of Crocs with the highest arch support (in addition to better arch support in general, stretching, etc.). I still wear those Crocs because they are easy in-and-out. I can also lock them into 4-wheel drive if walking outside. I have a set at my cabin for after a long day, or walking through the snow to the sauna on a cold night.

Sandals in general are terrible for back issues because your toes curl to help keep the sandal on. Companies do make sandals that eliminate the toe curl, and thereby are easier on your back. However, Crocs don't seem to cause back issues. I assume this is because more of your foot stays put and doesn't lift off of the back.

Sandals (or something besides a full shoe) can be helpful towards the end of the day because they allow your foot to breath. It's better for your skin, foot odor, fungus, or anything else that might happen to your gnarly feet as they age.

I came into Crocs kicking and screaming myself. To start with, they were just something I wore to feed Bob the black lab or the laying hens. Now I'm pretty sure they are a permanent part of my life. As a younger man, I thought leather work boots were the only thing a man should wear unless he was in church, and even then a nice new pair would be okay. I guess I've mellowed out as I've gotten older.

Well I only got one foot and I live in a molded memory foam jandal ( thongs ,flip flops ) that takes on the shape of my foot ........unless its to cold then its a walking boot . A Croc would be good too but round here they aint cool ....yeah Im probly to old to be caring about that 😁
I get a bit of nagging for not looking after the foot I got left but ..... And I arsed up tother day ...slippery concrete ,rh crutch shot out from under me and with no right leg the 1st thing to hit the deck is my elbow followed closely by my face. Same thing in supermarket when I put crutch down on a bit of cabbage leaf someone dropped on floor ...left crutch this time so only down on knee , gettin back up in front of an audience is worse than the fall 😁 Gravity is a b itch

When I was 15 I broke my ankle for a second time...being dumb. After our parents left for work, my old brothers would spray water on the kitchen floor so that I would slip on my crutches. I ended up never eating most of that summer until my mom came home to make dinner.

While it seems cruel, it did convert my pudgy 15yr old body into a svelt 16yr old machine that was finally lean, mean, and ready to get whooped in football!
