Hello folks. I've been working on a 61 10HP that I just picked up as a project to keep me busy during a vacation I took from work with no real "plans".
I had to replace the throttle gear and the plastic pin that sits int he bottom of the metal rod that connects to the armature plate up top, and the gear down bottom. That's working perfectly now. However, I've encountered a weird issue I've never seen before.
The butterfly on the carb is moving back towards idle after hitting full horizontal/WOT. It hits WOT on the carb near the very end of the armature plates travel, and then starts to close again. It isn't going past WOT on the carb, its just beginning to move backwards. It did this before I did a "link and sync", and after, so I'm fairly confident it isn't that. The only thing I can think of is the throttle cam on the armature plate is damaged or worn in some way I can't see. Looking to the community for help.
I've uploaded a video of the throttle moving from idle to WOT. It shows what I'm seeing. I have verified the butterfly in the carb is open fully before it starts moving backwards again. I thought I screwed up the link and sync so I went back and tried different settings including moving the throttle cam in fully, but that only resulted in full WOT not being reached at the carb, and still had the backwards movement at the last 1/8th of travel or so.
The armature plate is hitting the stop on the engine block for WOT as well, so I'm really stumped and hope some of you might have some idea of what to try or what might be causing it.
