What is the Best Way to Repair the Snaps on a Sunbrella Cover

The boat comes with a very well made cover that snaps onto the boat in many places.
A lot of the snaps have torn out of the cover.
I'd like to add small doublers and then use my snap kit to add new snaps.
I tried using iron on patches but they do not stick to the Sunbrella fablic.
Any suggestions on a glue to use or something else?

You can either get new snaps a few inches away from the original spots or have a strip sown onto the edge of the material and insert new canvas side snap parts.
In order to prevent further damage you should wet the canvas which will enlarge it ever so slightly and then snap things in place, Also, you should use a bit of zipper lubricant on the snaps, it will make them work better

There are a lot of missing snaps, so I'd prefer not to have to sew on a doubler. There should be a strong adhesive that I can use to attach a doubler. Anyone want to make a suggestion?

yeah....5200. I've been using it to attach patches behind my pulled out snaps.
I also use Marine Goop. The 5200 takes a while to dry and I have to check the patch to make sure edges are not releasing.
The Goop dries quickly so lifting edges is minimal.
I have cut out and pre made patches using the Goop. I just coat both sides, .let it dry, and then glue them on when needed.
The Goop is holding up as well as the 5200, but it's only been about 2 years.

Luckily a neighbor has a heavy duty sewing machine and has been able to sew patches and fix tears in my sunbrella cover. I've tried glues and iron on patches but like you found out do not work. Maybe the goop stuff will work otherwise I would have a new strip of sunbrella sowed on the cover then attach new snaps.

I'd pull all the current snaps, stitch on a double of the fabric front and back and then install the new snaps in proper locations.... essentially essentially a trim piece the size of the area between the stitches pictured. When my cover was made that's what my guy did and he put some plastic material in the middle.

Find an old singer 201k sewing machine. They cost pennies and are more than capable of sewing boat canvas.

I'm not a liar....the 5200 works as does the goop.

his time, money, cover.
