And I'll go back to my original thought, that your within 200 rpm of max now what makes you think that if you get the extra 200 rpm at WOT will gain you anything at lower rpm with more weight?
It gains me how I want to operate my motor, regardless of how you operate yours.

If an Uncupped Prop has a Cup added, then yes, the load on the Engine Increases. A 17" prop plus Cup is 17" plus cup(whatever it is). A new cupped Prop, might indeed be 17" cup included

Depending on where the Cup is located, is also a factor. Cup on the Trailing Edge, affects Pitch, whilst Cup on the Blade Tip, affects Rake

cupping adds performance

so removing the cup will decrease performance

relieving the cup a bit should get you the 200 RPM you are looking for
