How Do You Diagnose a Soft Spot in a Fiberglass Boat Deck?

Pretty sure the deck on this style of boat will be made from a mold like a bathtub - aka uncored and then bonded to the hull and stringer matrix with something like MMA. I would be surprised if the deck was cored and rotted if it's a 2015...you might want to contact the manufacturer to figure out how the boat was built.

You may get lucky and it’s mainly just the deck, as others have mentioned, they rot from the bottom up. I took on a 85 17.5’ and five years later it’s coming together. I’ll never recoup the cost but it’s going to be a solid rig when it’s done. Complete cap off rebuild and transom, paint is done, now it’s just electrical, upholstery, and final fitting. I’ll never do that again!

No offense, but this boat - being a 2015 - is constructed entirely differently from any 80s boat. In fact, it may not even have any plywood in its construction but may instead use a structural grid/pan-liner bonded to the hull. We would have to know more about the specific Brunswick model in question. Most of the newer Sea Rays don't have much wood if any...

Good point. Testing will need to be done before getting to deep into it.
