    Need help verifying float level

I recently changed my needle and seat on the two carbs for my 1968 merc 500 which caused my float level to change. Looking at the pic I believe I still need more adjustment as I read the bars need to be level with the pins. What do you all think?

    1968 Mercury 500 carb float?

Can the float, needle, and seat be serviced without removing the carburetors? It appeared there might be access by removing the starter/solenoid and working from the side?

I want to revive it, but the motor will need some updates before I attempt to get it running. The motor hasn't run in...

What oil for 1968 50 hp?

Searching through topics it appears and TC-W3 oil is okay. Specifically how about the Quicksilver semi-synthetic TC-W3? Was a 50:1 ratio the recommended spec in 1968? I plan to run it heavy to revive it and then keep it at a constant ratio.

Which ignition do I have? 1968 mercury 500

I will be picking up a 1968 boat with a 1968 Mercury 500 in a few weeks. I want to find some parts sources ahead of time for the ignition and other serviceable items. On the available parts diagrams they all seem to list two different ignitions. How do I determine which one I have?
