    Volvo 290 gear oil

    I was told by the previous owner that he always used 30wt oil in his outdrive. I read in the book to use GL-5 synthetic gear oil. I have no problems with the outdrive. Should I switch back to factory specs? Also I have 75 W 90 gear oil that is not synthetic would that be ok to use? Thanks
