My daughter says the RPMs drop off, at any throttle setting, smoothly.

I have a '77 engine, 115hp, evinrude. I'd like to repaint it.
Wonder whether most metals on the outside of lower unit are aluminum or other?
If aluminum, I'd use zinc chromate as primer. If other, I'd use prime coat as base.
Which would be best?

Can these units be removed with the boat on trailer? Or, is it lift the engine off the boat and them remove?
