    Prop size help please??

The tach worked fine with the 120 and the idle rpms read around 1k. I can manually check the engine to make sure but by those accounts the tach should be okay.

    Prop size help please??

Hello all, I previously had a 120 hp merc in a 19' boat that weighed around 3k pounds. The motor couldn't keep up with the demand I wanted with kids and water sports. I recently changed the motor out to an mcm 898/ 305 V8 and changed the top end of the outdrive to a 1.62/1 ratio. After all...

    What prop do I need?

So I took some replies seriously and changed the top end of the outdrive to a 1.62/1 and changed the engine to an mcm898 305 V8. I went out to test the 14.5x19p prop I have just to guage what I needed and I can't judge because I can't open it all the way up. At about 3/4 throttle or a little...

Thank you, yes there is electric choke now. I have one more spot that almost appears to be where a sensor was.

    What was mounted here?

Hi all, I recently purchased a mcm898 305 V8 engine that was sold as complete. Before I drop this bad not in the boat I've been looking it over (tracing wires, compression checks) and I've noticed an area where it appears something once was and I hope I'm not missing anything. Can anyone help...

    No speed, No power...please help!

This prop also gets me 3800 rpm at 24mph on plane but doesn't have any power.

    No speed, No power...please help!

I'm sorry I was mistaken, these are the cylinder pressures. Also I did weigh the boat and it's 3400 with the trailer which I'm guessing is about 800. Production weight of that boat with no fuel or accessories is 2200 I was getting 3700 rpm with 17 but wouldn't get on plane

    What prop do I need?

This is my first post and I will try to provide as much info as possible. I have a 1986 Thompson Cutlass 185 with an mcm 120 engine and Alpha One outdrive. Here are my results from the props I have: 14.25 x 19 - 3 blade (Prop Wizard recommended). This prop would only get me to 12 mph and 2800...
