So the pump is fine. The gauge adapter was not opening the Shroeder valve on my test port. Next, I readjusted the rockers to quiet some clatter.

1987 Power Play XLT-185 - floors, stringers, and upholstery

If you end up cutting for a DIN, support the dash on a piece of plywood or rigid foam for support. Use a jigsaw blade with downward teeth. Cut the ply/foam as you cut the plastic. Hold it down as you go so it can't lift up. You want about 3 teeth in contact with the thickness. Too course...

1987 Power Play XLT-185 - floors, stringers, and upholstery

You could buy a strip of white and a strip of black (acrylic) and the solvent "glue" used for that stuff, and laminate the part yourself. basically, you run a stream of the solvent down the middle so that it flows outward as you lower the top layer on the bottom later. The goal is to avoid...

    Zero fuel pressure?

I don't trust that reading. Also, it did not hold at that pressure. By the time I fixed a leaking fitting and tested again, it was reading zero again. I removed the gauge and found that the tip had broken and was not pushing down the pin in the Schroeder valve. I did also determine that my...

Now is a good time to stock up on cheap sunglasses to keep on your shiny boat.

    '90 Maxum 2100SR - restoration & conversion

Sounds similar to my first launch; a blend of success and disappointment. But don't lose heart. Take a breath, make a list and finish your build. We'll be here cheering you on.

    Zero fuel pressure?

UPDATE: It has pressure, now! I did a flow test: I disconnected the line before the gauge, added a hose and a quart bottle. Supposed to run the engine for 45 seconds and get a half bottle. At 30 seconds I had a quart! Plenty of flow. I reconnected the lines, restarted and saw 12psi on the...

    73 Sea Ray restoration

I'm not getting a mental picture of what you're describing, but there must be a way. I found aluminum elbows from 30 to 120 degrees. Mine has a 120.

    Zero fuel pressure?

I'm stumped. Mercruiser 3.0 with new mechanical fuel pump and rebuilt Holley carb. The first time on the water, it wouldn't get on plane. It seemed to starve. I added a test fitting to check fuel pressure and saw zero psi. So I replaced the unbranded pump with a Carter. STILL not showing...

Don't just buy the cheapest stuff available. Make sure it is rated for ethanol. I don't recall what the different ratings are, but I was able to google that info. If you use worm drive clamps, it requires two at each connection per code.

That looks great! I'm petty sure that no one will ever look as closely at the finish as you and the next person to buy it. For everyone else, if it looks shiny from three feet away, it is shiny. Ghost stripes and the Phantom of Eventus are worth conducting an exorcism, though. That stuff...

I went as course as 500 and still worked my butt off on the really dull areas. Then 1000. and then McGuires liquid cutting compound on a wool buff at low RPMS. I found that low RPMs worked better than high. I'm sure others will have great recommendations on products and ways to apply, so...

1987 Power Play XLT-185 - floors, stringers, and upholstery

I worked on my cap before final installation as well. Windshields were off, which in my case was a huge advantage when it came to buffing that area. I remember propping it up with tires because I didn't build a sweet stand like yours. But being able to stand right against it inside and out...

EVENTUS is such a strange name. I looked up the word and it still puzzles me why someone would name a boat that. If I lived near you, I would offer to help wet sand it off. LOL

Dock lines Boat project update: If you've watched the First Splash video, you'll recall that the boat wouldn't take throttle well enough to plane out. Since then, I've gone through every possibility (there were several) and am eliminating them one by one. Well, Sunday was a breakthrough! I...

Agreed. Thinking too far ahead can be discouraging. There are exceptions, however. Thinking of the end result, as you are doing, is one. The other is thinking ahead with regard to parts and supplies that you need to put on your radar for the upcoming steps. Keep throwing those motivators...

"HI, Mr. H!! Welcome to the group. Tell us how you felt when you first realized that your stringers were the consistency of porridge. Remember...you're not alone. We're all at different stages of this."
