    Yeah, tapping that wire simulates the switching function of the sensor. If it sparks it means everything up to there including coil and module is functioning. Hope you got a good quality sensor, many reports of Amazon junk not working correctly.

    1. Timing light on either the coil wire or any plug will give you an idea (obviously if it's on one plug wire it only shows that the module/distributer is firing that plug) 2. Wh/r wire is hot with ignition on 3. Just check the voltage at the end of the pigtails 4. If no spark with the timing...

    Before going through all of these gymnastics, confirm that you spark when it's acting up. I throw a timing light on a lead as a prelim test, though of course a spark tester is better.

    Probably not if it wouldn't start both after cooling for 1.5 hours (assuming ignition off ) and it started running rough while underway on a separate occasion. If the plunger was stuck open or closed you'd have problems only in one of those instances. Have you checked them tank vent yet? Still...

    Quad ring installed? Might try testing at a lower pressure as well. And I don't understand why people split the drive when it's still on the boat.
