2nd battery needed if installing prawn puller??

In my early years of running a new, low powered trolling motor on a 16' Chrysler Sport Fury, 85 hp Chrysler engine, with a single cranking battery, I ran the battery down to the point where it didn't have enough energy to start a new 85 HP engine. I had to pop the cowl, get the cranking rope...

Lanyard to disable engine when operator leaves the helm

Texas has the same law. I think its a good idea since I always boat alone and sometimes I get up around 50 and things happen pretty fast......and I am a senior citizen, without the faculties I once had.

    Clunking and prop slipping

I think the replaceable plastic/brass prop cores are a piece of "DUNG" and nobody is going to convince me otherwise!!!!!!!

OK for the spark plug gap to be slightly off from recommended?

My service manual covering 90 and 115 2 strokes plus others shows both types of NGKs in the specifications section. I run the gapped version and like them much better, especially on the 115 2+2...lower 2 cylinders stay cleaner and come online faster.

WARNING !! WARNING !! About brand new sparkplugs I bought.

The problem is the center post is fragile. Must use the utmost care. I installed a set on my engine and they came set to 0.030 and my engine requires 0.040. Was careful and didn't have a problem.

    85 373v ranger with 150 xr 2 black max

Is your 23 ported? If you want more hole shot and like your top end, have a prop shop port your prop. I had a laser original on a bass boat that was ported. Hammering down in the hole due to the porting taking the load off the blades, the engine got up in RPMs really fast giving me a good...

Constant ringing noise from throttle when motor is running.

According to Faztbullet, when this problem occurs the oil level sense magnet has fallen off it's mounting and the tank thinks its empty and shorts out causing the alarm. He has posted repair procedures, one being cut the tank in half, replace the damaged parts and glue it back...

1996 Mercury 115 steering cable stuck

The Top of the crankshaft, above the flywheel nut, is threaded. An eye loop installed there will give you the best way to lift the engine. I have used a roll around engine hoist...like you would use to pull an engine out of a car which has worked well for this task.

1990 Bayliner Trophy with twin Force 120s need advice on prop sizes

I use that Aviation sealer also on occasion where I feel it is needed. Locktite blue is for fasteners that one expects to remove from time to time. Red is for permanent applications and if removal is required, it is said that heat is a necessary aid. Locktite seals on compression so you have...

    Clunking and prop slipping

If it wasn't for some clunking noises I wouldn't expect any gear problems. Sitting in the water you MIGHT be able to unscrew the drain screw and with a paper towel sample some gear oil. If you see metal or if it has a milky look to the oil, then look for problems. If not, pull the prop and...

1990 Bayliner Trophy with twin Force 120s need advice on prop sizes

Rule of thumb on here is 1" change pitch equates to 150-200 RPM change. Running the same engines and same props with the same trim setting smells of engine trouble. Possibly having had the trouble, if you run it for awhile maybe the internals of the bad engine will clean up and the RPMs will...

1982/83 70HP 3 cyl fuel pump WATER line I.D. size?

My 115 has internal diameters of 5/16" but 3/8" supply line. I think the 3/8" supply line just cuts down on merchants having to stock numerous sized lines for different HP engines.

need to determine what prop I need

Get he prop ID either with a part number or diameter and pitch with somebody's LOGO molded or stamped in the side of the barrel for that and/or one end of the prop hub , either the rear or front of the prop near the prop shaft area. If that doesn't work take it to a prop shop and maybe there is...

1990 Bayliner Trophy with twin Force 120s need advice on prop sizes

I totally agree but he doesn't have another prop to match the other engine and I doubt he has access to a dyno. He has to start someplace and after all the stones he has rolled over already, I doubt there is much he missed if anything as far as what, if anything, is wrong with the engine now...

1990 Bayliner Trophy with twin Force 120s need advice on prop sizes

I have numerous Turning Point Hustler, 13+ diameter, 4" hubs, purchased here, that were 3 and 4 blade aluminum props. Never had a problem. Engines were 90 and 115 Mercs. I didn't specify nor pay any attention to any remarks about the hub diameter. I just relied on the fact that the 13" dia...

    Am I under proped?

For this to work, you have to have the same prop with 2" less pitch. Change prop types, suppliers and all bets are off.

1990 Bayliner Trophy with twin Force 120s need advice on prop sizes

So one would ask why did the plate separating the cylinder's exhaust gasses from the cooling water warp in the first place? My answer would be that it didn't receive the cooling water of the engines original design. My understanding of cooling loops is that they are 2 separate circuits whereby...
