    Water in the fuel

All mine have been 1992 or older, so I see I have missed so called up grades. Curious though....what keeps water out of the vented cap ?

    Alumacraft layoff..

To early in my area to know for sure. Many folks don't get their docks ready until after mothers day, this year has been to much wind and rain even with the warmer temps.

    Sealant Around Center Console

Not like an automobile where the dealer is limited to miles in order to call it new or used. There are times a boat sits for a year or two before being sold, but still sold as new !

    Water in the fuel

Built in tanks no longer have a vent hose or an exterior vent ?? Venting thru a gas cap only could be an issue if the filler neck is filled....learn something new everyday ....

    Alumacraft layoff..

Call me old, cheap or whatever, could I afford a 75K new boat ? Probably, but would not be able to sleep at night ! Never catch enough fish to make it worthwhile.....quit buying new cars about 20 years back as well, way to much depreciation, and way to many nice used stuff out there. I have...

    Water in the fuel

If this is a built in tank, why a vented fuel cap ? Can't say I recall a vented cap on a built in tank. That is what the thru hull vent is for....

How to video cavitation plate on the water

Simple.....run a straight edge along the boat bottom and out the back toward the cav plate, with motor tilted in proper running position is the cav plate below the hull ?

    What To Get?

Been a boat owner and operator for over 60 years, never found one boat that will do it all ! Because of that, whatever you get will become a disappointment in time because there will be to many "it doesn't do this or that" like I want it to....Are you willing to drop 60-70K for a tow vehicle on...

Trailer guides with step in the way

Many of the ramps in our area are quite shallow and not steep enough so wind and current have a big effect on loading. If you lucky enough to have good ramps at the right angle with little or no wind/ current then side guides do not do much. Having a deep V hull with bunks also helps greatly...

    Livewell and Interior design brainstorm

Neighbor has a 17' boat with a 30 plus gallon livewell on the port side. He is a big boy, 280# so he needs to add water in the live well even when he doesn't need it to keep the boat balanced. My live wells are used to store tackle, my fish go in iced cooler, they taste much better that way....

Trailer guides with step in the way

Actually I have both, the side guides do the actual work of centering the boat in poor loading conditions but added poles for a visual effect when water is high.

    Trailer Brakes

Believe what you want but China makes them so cheap they don't care. The real cost us added on due to the rigorous testing when they arrive in the US ! If you know anyone involved with foreign inspections in the U S you will see that is not uncommon at all. One reason the US wants to deal with...

Trailer guides with step in the way

Honestly, I find poles to be fairly useless, in my 60 years of boating I find side guides to be far more usefull. Mine are 5' long on each side with less than an inch clearance on each side. The boat drives itself on fully centered each time no matter the wind or current. Just some food for...

    Water in the fuel

Yes it could come thru the vent.... Had that issue some years back and found I needed an upward loop in the vent hose. The upward loop keeps water from running back into the tank. Also check the vent to be sure the opening is not catching spray while underway. Also be careful where you buy...

    Fuel tank installation
