Yamaha 50 hp 2 stroke prop seal depth

Ideally you should probly refit them as per factory..... but sometimes if the shaft has wear grooves where the seal lips have been bearing on the shaft it is possible to move the seal so the lips are bearing on unworn shaft thus getting another life out of the shaft . We used to do this on...

Yep , inlet tract , crankcase and transfer port runners were all dusted with saw dust that got past the disintegrating felt air cleaner pad thing ). I dunno just how long it took but the cust said it had got harder and harder to start. We got it when the recoil starter gave up:)

Estate sale lot of 18 - 25hp motors - Compression gauge variables.

I was remembering a motorbike I recently resto'd , also remembering several older chainsaws with compression thru the roof , that req massive de-coke . My theory was that they were burning a lot of wood dust ( some old air cleaners didnt work worth a damn ) . Some of them you could see where...

Estate sale lot of 18 - 25hp motors - Compression gauge variables.

On the high compression one ..... I have seen 2/ motors with a small drilling , about 3mm, that goes from an area above the ex port on the cylinder wall to the roof of the port to act as a decompression port , others have a notch in the top of the port window, either way if it gets plugged with...

    Suzuki Kill Switch Issue

The fact that this is the 2nd kill switch , and that the starter dont work in the "off" position and does in the "run" position strongly suggests to me that the switch aint the problem . It appears to be doing what it should . Check the fuses and then give the thing a real good eyeballing ...

    1981 Mercury 7.5 2 stroke

FFS ! THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE, they just measure it at the engine speeds that provides the figures they are looking for. Anybody with half a brain and who doesnt feel the need to keep stirring the pot could (would ) see that, even the friggin Honda dealer said they are the same powerhead . You...

    1981 Mercury 7.5 2 stroke

OK ,Im having trouble trying to get an image of the specs but the poxy computer wont let me cut a page off the pdf so I took a pic on my ph and emailed it to myself ( yeah , probly just me )and here tiz If you look at max torque , it is measured a grand higher for the 45 , but Im sure...

    1981 Mercury 7.5 2 stroke

yes , all the same , 808cc Nah ,the torque and power are the same . With the 45hp they may well measure peak hp and torque ( I doubt it as there is a 50hp the same size ) but with the 35 they measure it at the revs it produces 35 hp and then say " oh , this one is rated at 35 hp at 5000rpm...

    Timing is retarded ;-)

Do these motors have knock sensors ? Is the fuel high enough octane and fresh-ish . My car needs 95 oct and if I feed it 91 it cuts back on something that noticeably limits hp.....I suspect the ignition advance with fuelling to suit Not that familiar with newer outboards but I am with...

    1981 Mercury 7.5 2 stroke

The hole in the end of the crankshaft is usually there to enable the crankshaft to be pressed apart . A drift is placed in the hole and rested against the end of the middle main journal , wjth the crank properly supported the crank can be separated in to two halves to replace bearings and...

    1981 Mercury 7.5 2 stroke

Outboard HP ratings can be weird I have a 35 hp honda that has 35 hp between 4600 and 5600rpm The 45hp has 45hp between 5 and 6000rpm and there aint a foot/lb difference in max torque between them just the 45 hp is max at 1000rpm higher. They are the same motor ( I have checked heaps...
