    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

I did register the engine and so any recall notices should be sent to me. I went to the Volvo Penta website to order some manuals but when I click on the cart icon I get a web page not found error. Guess I will ask the dealer. I'd like to pressure the closed cooling system but unsure of what...

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

Looking at your post and the the cooling system diagram on the VP website. What would cause the engine to not overheat but the exhaust manifold to overheat. And the exhaust elbows to be normal temp? What would happen if the closed system was filled with coolant but not moving around? Would...

    New 5.7 overheating

Many marine engine have two thermostats available. A lower temp one for RWC especially in salt water. And a higher temp one for closed cooling.

Does this setup have an impeller in the outdrive? Some do. Maybe only Mercruiser Alpha One. You have have an oil cooler or PS cooler inline from outdrive water pickup to engine. Clogged? Wrong manifold or riser gaskets that are blocking a water path and should not. Too much sealer in exhaust...

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

I was thinking of testing the coolant. But which system would be at the higher pressure? I am thinking the closed system with coolant. I am looking for a leak where a gallon or two of coolant could disappear.

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

That leak you pointed out is in the exhaust elbow and most likely raw water. I would see that in the bilge. Yes I need to look into that. I am looking for a much larger leak of coolant. I am assuming heat exchangers are like exhaust elbows and need replacement every so many years when used...

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

So there are no obvious coolant leaks. No coolant in bilge. Possibly previous owner was careless about maintenance? What if there is a leak in the heat exchanger and the coolant is slowly being pushed into the raw water side and out the exhaust? Except for the coolant level dropping how...

For this engine the VP website indicates "printed - dealer only".

What brand and what outdrive? Closed cooling or RWC?

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

By saying the DTC was pretty much the same I mean the DTC was a 441 or 442 and the only data that was different from the prior tests was the engine coolant was 140F vs 86F in prev tests. I had the data on Diacom and brought my laptop home to figure a way to save the DTC in such a way that I...

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

Well the coolant is in now. Was filled to the full mark after a few minutes of running. Owners manual does not mention any need to bleed any air. But there certainly could still be air. Unsure

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

So had the boat put in the water today. Added another 1.5 gallons for a total of 2.5 gallons. (It's possible the jugs of VP VCS coolant are 5L rather than a gallon). Started engine, level went down a bit. Added a little more coolant. Did that twice. Third time the the coolant level did not...

Is this closed cooling. If so there is one in the heat exchanger. If raw water cooled there is one in each exhaust manifold. And of course at least one on the outdrive.

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

In the parts diagram it looks like it seals with a O-ring meaning it's almost certainly not NPT. Maybe get a new O-ring and re-do the connection.

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

What do you think is wrong with the leaking hose connection? Hose damaged? Clamp damaged. Past the threads? The question is will I be able to unscrew the fitting from the exhaust elbow or might it snap.

    Help!!!!!volvo Penta aq125a inboard aq270 outboard

Not much gas in the tank? Gas tank pickup clogged. Antisiphon valve on gas tank. Clogged fuel filter. Does not sound like a spun hub. Fuel pump failing. Run off a test tank.

    New 5.7 overheating

You put in a new engine with an old exhaust manifold? Closed cooling or RWC? I assume RWC. Replace both manifolds. If you put any gasket sealer on manifold to riser gasket, less is better.
