    Tad bit windy today ...

Muchas ramas pequeñas se extienden por la propiedad. No hay árboles caídos que pueda ver desde la casa.

    84 Days Without a Fish

Already one book sold. This is so easy I think I will write poetry next. I will write a long poem about how Art, I mean Manolin, gets so old that he is almost ancient and realizes he was responsible for whatever bad luck came to the Crestliner. He will have to spend eternity traveling to...

    84 Days Without a Fish

I was thinking the ending would be that I would hook a twenty inch crappie fishing through the ice and just when I almost pulled it in a muskie came and ate it. It is all the stuff between the beginning and the conclusion that may take some time to write.

    84 Days Without a Fish

Was just updating my boat maintenance record today and realized that Oct 17th was the last day I was able to have my boat out and that was 84 days ago. Thought maybe I could turn my losing battles with Lady Luck last year into a book. The story would start out like this; He was an old man...

    Oar length

Agree for what you need them for. The shorter the easier they are to store on board. Sort of like the little doughnut spare tires for cars.

HELP Throttle and Steering Cable Lengths

I am guessing that in 1/3 of all the steering cables I have replaced I was able to read the part number printed on the covering. Usually but not always the last 2 digits denote the cable length but a simple google search of the part number will tell the length.

    Oar length

Hate a question that I have no answer for and have to think about and lookup. My question is why do you want oars. Belt and suspender thing to get you back to shore when your battery goes dead and outboard both die at the same time. Or just for exercise and/or the enjoyment Your age and...

Now I went and did something.

Someone told me years ago to live each day as if it was your last because someday it will be.

Now I went and did something.

One of the workarounds to never getting any older really sucks too. Waking up in the hospital stuck full of tubes this Summer changed a lot of the way this 84 year old thinks. A tick borne disease that caused red blood cells to not reproduce almost put me down for the count. Actually thought...

Can't decide who's the most annoying

I agree. Last year I decided I would answer in both the little Spanish I know or my fractured French and tell the callers I did not speak any English. A couple of weeks later my wife mentioned that it seemed that all the incoming calls we were getting were in some foreign language. I never...

Can anyone identify the type of boat in this painting?

It is obvious that the artist was not a sailor since the flags and pennants on the hoist are going the opposite direction of what they would be when the boat was underway with the wind behind them.

Can anyone identify the type of boat in this painting?

Some historians claim the first cultures to paint an eye on the prow were from Egypt and India but there are examples all over the world. Note the modern boat in Vietnam pictured here.

    Co-owning a boat?

That is the normal business plan for shared aircraft ownership. I was in a partnership with two others like that for many years and it worked out well. It did help that my home airport operator had a couple of planes that could be rented and I was qualified in both their types so if there was...

    water pressure vs air pressure

Reading this post reminded me that I hadn't drained the water line to my shop and garage yet. Since it is slightly downhill I just blew it out with the shop vac.

    water pressure vs air pressure

During normal operation the tank has both water and a cushion of air. The tank's integrity is not changed by what is causing the pressure. If there would be a catastrophic failure of the tank the potential energy would be more if it was 100% air than say 75% non compressible water and 25% air.
