    Just go up 2 sizes on mains and down one on idle. Surface heads just enough to make flat or use newer "top hat" heads.

    A 398-5454A16 and up are all 16amp stators and same thickness, the A at end of part number is a series number. So a 398-5454A16 and up will replace it,as the A32 and A 35 are same thinkness.

    Gear ratio is different, as long as you dont pull skiers or tubes you can play with prop pitches to regain lost RPM

    It is not a V-6 gearcase but a V-6 housing as gear ratio is different. Put the SEI old style V-4 unit on it and you wont have to change props

    Agree as the ole "batwing " unit wasnt very good. I would suggest he get a SEI unit and plop in driveshaft and go.

    If the tie is holding the choke position open the solenoid will not pull choke plunger down. It will only wiggle when activated

    First you need to lose the homemade clip-on choke and install correct keeper o-ring. The reason choke won't work is wire tie on cable below solenoid has flaps locked open.
