    Forums are very slow…

Connections to "I boats forums" have been very difficult to make here in recent weeks. The gateway timeouts seem to be the normal here of late ! Hopefully this gets corrected soon........?

    1985 Starcraft porpoising issue. Prop??

While I do consider them a last effort, you might consider adding a tail fin on the cavitation plate on your outdrive. I have saw them solve such issues. Being a toolmaker, I have always made my own from SS sheetmetal, they worked much better and were smaller than the big plastic contraptions...

For those of us who tow our boat, do you inspect it ?

What to many horror stories around my area due to the boating popularity of being in the "Walleye Capital" ...You would be shocked at what you see at the launch ramp after the boats are off the trailers ! Gives a person a real kick in the pants to check their own trailers.

    1985 Starcraft porpoising issue. Prop??

I have always adjusted my prop pitch to give me max wot rpm with just me onboard, this way adding extra passengers and gear will keep my rpm in a safe range yet give me best speed. I always carried a spare prop with 2" less pitch for skiing and knee boarding than o get the hole shot. I would...

    ProV bass fuel sending unit

Been using Sea Foam for over 20 years with no issues like that. Sending unit is in the tank or attached to the top of the tank. Uncover the tank or follow the hoses/ wires and fill hose....you will locate the tank and fittings. No one said it will be easy, usually lots of stuff to move out of...

    Strange boat disease strikes.

Actually Starcraft was busted by the gov't for creating a monopoly on aluminum boats. The company was forced to breakup and Sylvan, Northwood, and Smoker craft was formed along with some other small boat companies.

    Strange boat disease strikes.

In all honesty....I think it comes down to how the boat is stored and maintained ! Look around...I am out in the country where there are numerous barns and outbuildings, most have a boat sitting outside and very few have covers on them. Some have not been moved in years. Within a 5 mile...

    Strange boat disease strikes.

Or most any other aluminum boat......My 1992 Sylvan is all original, floors are all 3/4" plywood an an all aluminum transom. Some day handy new floors and a carpet refresh, but probably not in my lifetime....

Installing a transducer in an aluminum boat

Only needs to be about a 1/2 mabey 3/4" below, sometimes less. Never mount in line with rivets....angle the rear slightly lower than the front. Worse case scenerio.....smooth out the transom rivets with some body putty and sand smooth to give a smooth water flow over the transducer. My...

Installing a transducer in an aluminum boat

Should not be an issue at speed with a transom mount transducer. I have owned many over the years, including my current Sylvan aluminum hull that is riveted. Reads very well at 30 mph, as did my 22' Star craft Islnder. If it doesn't read at speed, you have it mounted incorrectly. Numerous...

    Partial transom repair

It bless you have drilled some holes to actually test the inside wood skeleton, your guessing it is solid !! No way anyone can tell for sure without a thorough test. Fact is....that boat is long past it's design life, and the odds of being structuraly compromised to the point of being unsafe...

1980 Avenger weight and hp rating

NEVER buy a boat without an in water test run !! Most who do...regret it later ! Your looking at a 45 year old glass boat that was designed and built to last 20 years tops. You have a 90% plus chance that it has a rotten wood skeleton. Looking and feel will not test for rotten wood. Due to...

Installing a transducer in an aluminum boat

I would attach to the transom and be done. Far more accurate than shooting thru a metal hull and much easier to install.
