    how hard would it be to get a welder to get to it to weld it up? welding and electronics do not get along, so make sure to remove what you can before welding if you can find someone to give it a shot

    just my thoughts, but even if VST is full, the HP pump screen/filter could cause rail pressure to drop at higher speeds, maybe even pressure regulator might also if not working correctly

    rail pressure while problem shows up should tell if that is the problem mechanical pumps tend to go bad quicker than you would think sometimes. I think monitoring pressure into the VST while problem shows up should point to that being a problem if it cannot keep up, but I am not positive on that...

    water in the pan means wet wiring, that tends to short out things or lets spark jump where it should not. find where the water is coming from and solve that

    so if the 9.9 was propped correctly to hit the maximum WOT RPM, then turning it into a 15 would mean a different prop was needed to Keep the RPMs from over revving that same WOT RPM spec

    so does the service manual for a 15 have spec that it should run at higher RPMs than a 9.9? what about a 25 or 30 HP motor? maybe Boscoe can tell us on the 15 specs

    since the pieces on impeller went into the tube from the pump, I would see if you could flush it out the same way it went in. not sure if you could rig up something to the stat opening to force water with water hose in from there

    if you look at the parts diagram Boscoe posted for you, you will see where the nipple is located and where the hose is routed thru the hole in front of the upper casing

    compressed air is used all of the time ,I usually use it while the motor is running on muffs so the air can move debris around and hopefully out with the rest of the water flowing out, removing the stat also gives it another exit point at the top of the power head. not sure, but maybe you are...

    why afraid of pulling lower unit? that has to be pulled to replace the pump anyway. dropping the lower and inspecting the pump again is a very good idea since you ran the motor with not enough water to get to the pump. those pumps do not like pumping just air, you may have damaged it already

    only true way to find out would be to dyno the motor before and after the modification. with a 50% increase in HP would a different prop be needed also also it was mentioned the reed stops were different allowing the reeds to open more

    and do not wait so long to drop the lower unit and change the water pump. gives a chance to clean everything and lube it up, even the drive shaft where it goes into the power head. those are even harder to get apart if they rust together

    Little parts that arent around anymore.

    I am trying to think of where this little nylon washer to hold the linkages in place is used and what it looks like . maybe a pic would help me understand. I do have some hole punches and small gasket cutters in my tool box to make things also, they do come in handy
