    Sea Core

Some evidence that it is an option is on some boat websites. Here is some engine info from the Sea Ray boat website, showing SeaCore as an option that adds about $6K to the engine package. Not sure if the outdrives as stand-alone units have the anodizing protection that is part of SeaCore as...

    Stupid mistake: bravo III

FWIW - Here are the design guidelines used for I/O boat engines . . . Some outboards aren't much better :D If you ran the engine for more than 5-10 seconds w/out water going to the muffs, then I would check the impeller, as mentioned, to be sure. When I install an impeller, I use dish...

    Custom Fiberglass Extended Swim Platform

We have put a decent amount of load on the swim platform so far. Nothing too excessive. Here are some of the crew hanging out on the platform. The platform holds up well. The stern is down about 4" with 4 people sitting on the platform. Not sure when I will have time to add the 3" riser...

Question about adding 3" spacer/riser to exhaust on 7.4L

As per my extended swim platform thread, I am considering adding a 3" spacer to my current exhaust setup, which is pretty much factory standard for 1996 - center riser manifold with stainless steel elbows. I measured the height of the elbows per the Mercruiser procedure: I got the 'a'...

    Starboard Engine . . . no start . . .

My joy with my boat launch with the new swim platform was a bit short lived. When we got the boat to the harbor dock for a few minutes, the starboard engine would not start. It had started about 20 minutes before at the ramp, but suddenly would not start after sitting at the dock for a few...

FWIW - If I did go with the extra pieces of rubrail where the ladders are located, it would look something like this . . . . . I'm not sure if it makes it look to busy or not :noidea:

    Custom Fiberglass Extended Swim Platform

Thanks everyone for the accolades :thumb: I'm a bit behind my schedule, so I waived off the launching for today. I am still working on the hatches to get the hinges installed. The fasteners for the struts took quite some time. I am using SS 'squared' u-bolts with a spacer that I made. . ...

    Custom Fiberglass Extended Swim Platform

It's a good thing that I pulled the outdrives . . . . A barnacle had lodged in the water passage at the bell housing. A similar thing to an issue I had a couple of years ago. The other outdrive was fine.

    Custom Fiberglass Extended Swim Platform

Test Fitting . . . I did a test fitting of the platform to see if it needs any trimming or adjustments prior to applying the 4200 UV adhesive. I had to make the holes in the existing swim deck elongated since the sides are a tight fit. Here are a couple of pictures . . . . I was about 1/4"...
