    I have spark on the port side of the motor but not the starboard side. I Have eliminated the shift switch for the magneto circuit...... I have tried 3 power packs, trigger and stator good per manual. Stumped....... Help Please......

    shift rod disconnection for l.u. removal

    1979 merc 1750 (175hp) black max. Sn#5080.....<br /><br />There are five bolts to remove. I can't visualize the disconnecting of the shift rod so I can drop the lower unit to change an impellor.<br /><br />can someone help a dummie?

    Cooling system- path of the water

    1979 merc 1750 (175hp) <br /><br />I have water going to the pressure relief valve. I have water coming out the exhaust ports.<br /><br />Does the water go up the midsection to the block to the heads?<br /><br />I don't have water out the pee hole. How do I trace it back to find the problem?

    1979 Power trim bolts

    I have a 79 Mercury 175 Black Max That I am having a problem with parts. I am looking for the bolts for the power trim that allow the fluid to go through them. My local Mercury dealer said the parts are no longer available. <br /><br />Can anyone give me a source for them.....?

    What kind of labor hours are allowed by industry standards to rebuild a 175GT Johnson (V6 Looper).<br /><br />Is there like a Chilton manual that gives the proper time?<br /><br />The darn motor will have to be rebuilt and I don't want to get ripped off.....

    Spark plug full of metal....

    1988 Gt175 VRO Issue- How to Bypass

    Had an alarm got it to go off again. Disconntected thermal sensor- still buzzing<br />Disconnected the oil res. sensor- still buzzing<br /><br />Disconnected the VRO pump, it went quiet.<br /><br />IS it as simple to disconnect the vro,<br />reomove VRO pump,<br />connect the gas line directly...

    Fuel Consumption Yammie vs Johnson

    I've got a 1988- 175 Johnson GT V6 that Drinks gas.... I have found a Yammie 1989 200hp carbed at a reasonable price. Worth while to change based upon fuel consumption? Are these fuel savy?
