    Trim pump

I tend to agree. I'm going to extend the cylinders to their max and check the fluid level after the air dissipates.

    Trim pump

Yes. Full up and down until the pumps starts to stress.

I'll add more and see what happens.

    Trim pump

I've noticed that when the outdrive is all the way down, that "unaerated" fluid is below the min line. Once the air purges it's up to the max. Should I try adding it little more fluid and see what happens? Also, like I already asked, Is it possible to suck in air but not have a leak??

    Trim pump

It's a brand new pump. Once the bubbles subside the fluid is still at max and the fluid is the Quicksilver "power trim and steering fluid". I used that in my old pump too.

    Trim pump

Hi guys. My A1/G2 outdrive was falling overnight. Since the engine, transom assy. and outdrive were new I replaced the old trim pump assembly. Bled the system and the overdrive doesn't fall now. The problem is the fluid aerates after a few cycles. NO visible leaks anywhere. Can the system suck...

    Alpha 1 gen 2 5.7L overheating

Chris, I replaced all the dash gauges this winter with a new Sierra set. (fuel, temp, oil, mph, tach, trim, volt, etc ..) In turn I made sure the new oil and temp senders were Sierra as well. I did use an IR gun. The temp gauge read approx 170' and the outside of the temp sender (in the t-stat...

    Alpha 1 gen 2 5.7L overheating

Well that makes me feel better. The water goes right to the bottom of the cylinders and the exhaust flow out the transom assy. is 3 times greater than the muffs.

    Alpha 1 gen 2 5.7L overheating

I'll have to get a pair of new muffs because mine don't spray anywhere near 10ft. Been in the same house for 30+ years and the water pressure is fine. When the outdrive was in the trough (a mistake I won't repeat) the intake hose at the t-stat was solid, only 140' at the sender. On the muffs you...

A 10ft spray out of the muffs or hose???

    Alpha 1 gen 2 5.7L overheating

I ran it like that for about 20 mins. Should I replace the impeller and housing again?

    Alpha 1 gen 2 5.7L overheating

How is the pump fully submerged on muffs?

    Alpha 1 gen 2 5.7L overheating

The hose and new muffs are the same I used on the old engine. I'm confused about the submersion. If the muffs supply water to the inlet holes, why can't you use my 50 gallon trough which supplies water up to the trim pistons. The gauge used to climb to 200' and had marginal discharge. Now, the...

    Alpha 1 gen 2 5.7L overheating

Update. I installed an OEM impeller. SAME PROBLEM. I then matched the new Sierra temp. gauge with a Sierra sender. NO teflon tape this time. Better results but still ran hotter than I like. Built a container to submerge the outdrive and ran it. Everything looks good. The gauge never went over...

    Alpha 1 gen 2 5.7L overheating

Update. Took the outdrive off and used the hose. Ran the motor for about 10-15 minutes. All is well. Normal readings all around. Rpm's between 600-1500. The gauge ran a little higher than the infrared thermometer but then I noticed I used teflon tape on the temp. sender. Let's see what happens...

Also, should I replace the impeller housing too?

    Alpha 1 gen 2 5.7L overheating

I ordered the impeller kit BPI12080 From Basic Power Industries. Should I get the OEM mercury parts only??
