    alldodge, thanks for the advice. I went over all of the electrical connections first hoping that was the case, but unfortunately I have bad exhaust risers and water is leaking back into the cylinders through the exhaust valve creating a hydro-lock situation. I will be putting back together...

    definitely. a compression check is in order. The valves looked ok when I had the exhaust manifolds off but I am nervous for sure and would be kind of shocked if there is no other damage.
