    Mercury sells New and Remanufactured Motors. At the very least, they will provide an Engine that is built correctly for Marine Use.

    Welcome to iboats Trying to decipher, what you wrote. You have a 1979 80hp Merc It will not shift out of Neutral Shift Lever, moves Is the Shift Cable hooked up at the Engine Does the Shift Cable move, when shift lever is rotated Has the Gearcase recently been removed and reinstalled?

    With todays Oils, that is the only way to rebuild an Engine. An added bonus, the Rollers can handle steeper Ramps, allowing Cam Profiles that improve breathing without an Increase in Lift and/or Duration,

    What Procedure does your Service Manual have? If you are putting that Engine together without the proper Service Manual, setting the Timing will be your least of your problems.

    Customs and Duty aren't much of an issue these days compared to the Outright Gouging by the Middlemen in the supply chain. I just deal with the local Dealer. That said Genuine OMC parts are going to get rarer as BRP has gotten out of the Marine Engine Business

    The Sleeve will likely need to be bored, even for a Standard size Piston. You can have oversize and standard size in the same engine All the sizes, weigh much the same, so the engine's balance won't be thrown off.

    In your initial post it is a Volvo, in the most recent it is Mercrusier drive, with a Volvo engine. Is this something that you or a previous owner cobbled together?
