    Water tube grommets

    Has anyone used high temp silicon sealant in place of the rubber grommets at the top of the water tube(s)? I have a 1984 Evinrude 15. The input tube grommet is a mess, and they are expensive. I was wondering is a glob of silicone would do the job. Anybody tried it?

    I picked this motor up as a project two summers ago. New gaskets, thermostat, water pump kit, exhaust tube. Cleaned out the water jackets while I had it apart. I get water out of the tell-tale....my question is....Where is the water supposed to exit the system? Should I be getting water out...

    Greetings! Put my 15 in the tank and she fired right up after hanging in the garage all winter. The tell-tale was indicating just fine for a few minutes and it gradually diminished...then I started getting steam....shut down! Tried the twist tie trick up the tell tale...then compresses air...

    Excessive smoke

    Hello all, I'm getting way too much smoke from my '76 6hp Evinrude....I've been using fresh gas and oil (non synthetic) which I very carefully measured to get the 50:1 ratio right. What else could be causing this issue? Seems to get worse at higher RPM's. thanks in advance!
