    Gps/sonar driven auto pilot

I mentioned some time ago a plan to connect a 12V linear actuator to my kicker for portable (around the boat) steering control. I have a Humminbird fish finder/GPS with a NMEA output. Has anyone built a board to convert NMEA heading change info to drive an autopilot. Maybe using an...

Is this a new idea? D I Y Electric kicker steering

Planing attachment on cavitation plate - are trim planes better

Well looking at the wish book, which is a winter pastime around here. I am wondering if, considering the cost and work involved, how cavitaion plate planer attachments compare to trim tabs like the bennett setup. Or can both be used at once? I have an old Bennett system but not all the parts...

    unleaded fuel in older engines?

I have a 1974 mercruiser powered by a Ford 302 v-8. I suspect, (and the manual says) unleaded fuel will burn the valves. It has 351W heads how do I tell the difference between old valves and newer unleaded types? If I run less than 50 hours per year I am thinking the old valves might last longer...

old boat new idea -bow thruster

I wonder if anyone has ever cut in a cross hull tunnel and put maybe a minkota in the tunnel as a bow thruster. No need to pivot, just forward / reverse for docking and slow cross wind trolling? It would need to be above the wet line when planing but should work great.....

    stern drive outboard mount

Hi, Okay back in the 70's I had a 20 foot Calglass cuddy cabin with a 165 mercruiser. I bought a mounting bracket for an outboard to bolt to the I/O for main engine steering. I mount a 7.5 hp Johnson on it with shift/throttle cabled to the helm in the cabin. A wonderful setup for fishing...
