    1963 Evinrude won’t start

If she didn't fire on ether, you have no spark. Even if the spark was well out of time, she would backfire on ether. Maybe your motor will not spark under compression? I would check the ignition plate for wobble, and make sure the coils are in the correct position on the plate, and the...

    Materials

Andy, I simply meant that your boat (and the vast majority of boats) are made of polyester resin, plus cloth and mat of the appropriate weight. Cloth comes in 1.5oz, 3oz, 4oz, 6oz, 7oz, 8oz, up to 40oz. Weight is per sq yard. Heavy roving cloth comes as 18oz, 24oz. Weight is per sq yard...

    slow drop on T&T, 1982 50 hp

Sure, a leaking PTT piston seal will do that. See if you can get a rebuild kit for the PTT and if special tools (ie spanner) are needed.

    Problems with oversized boat motor

That isn't a Jon Boat. It is more of a semi-vee boat. 12 foot Semi-Vees were often rated for 25HP, so a 14 footer should be rated for 30 or more HP. My 1960 Crestliner 14 foot runabout (also 5 ft beam) was rated for 40HP. You could look up similar boats and see what they are rated for.

How about the correct sized Tupper wear containers?

There are several weights of glass cloth, and a couple of different mat weights. I would recommend you go to a marine store and check them out, and see which has the flexibility and strength you want. Figure on 4 layers of cloth overlapping the hull by a few inches, to finish the inside or...

    Non conventional issues.

Gee, testy aren't we. So, you have a crack in your airbox, and you are blaming that for poor running? Good luck with that fix.

    Source for mooring chain/hardware?

The best price will likely be online, maybe even amazon. Galvanized chain with the yearly application of cold galvanizing paint to cover any rust, should last decades.

1986 mercury 115 2 stroke inline 6 bogging at full throttle

Hitting the primer when she bogs may not help, as you seem to have a fuel delivery issue. No fuel for the carbs = no fuel for the primer. Since you already rebuilt the fuel pump, replace any fuel filters or water separators you find. I always thought 5/16" ID fuel line diameter was marginal...

    Compatibility

I would post this in the MerCruiser I/O forum. Those guys are experts. However, I am really skeptical that you have correct info on that swap.

Should the prop have any play

The prop should not move on the propshaft splines. Movement of the prop on the splines will likely cause damage to the gearcase, propshaft or other parts. The entire propshaft may have some small play, and it is usually normal. 1/8" play in the propshaft is about what I have on my Merc and...

I changed my lower end your oil on my Evinrude 18 hp guy at AutoZone said that should work??? making sure

Gee, the important debate is not whether this gear oil will work for the OP. I believe that the OP should research/determine the correct gear oil for his motor and not trust random auto parts guys to know the correct answer. Suppose the motor was electro mechanical shift, as lots of...

    Mystery trim/tilt motor

Looks like an early 80s or late 70s Merc OB PTT motor/reservoir. Not sure if an aftermarket replacement exists, but if it does, ARCO likely made one.

I changed my lower end your oil on my Evinrude 18 hp guy at AutoZone said that should work??? making sure

OK, you know that factoid. However, I think it is important for it to be a thought process for the OP, and the lurkers.

    Non conventional issues.

When you say crack in the intake do you mean a crack in the crankcase cover? It seems unlikely, as crankcases and covers are a single casting and sawed to separate. So what exactly cracked?

    2007 Mercury 115 4 stroke

I am not real familiar with 4 cycle motors, but I would expect them to share gearcases with 2 cycle OBs. As such, gearcases will normally have a bearing that supports the driveshaft, just under the waterpump, at the top of the gearcase, as well as a bearing where it meets the pinon gear. They...

I changed my lower end your oil on my Evinrude 18 hp guy at AutoZone said that should work??? making sure

First of all, is your gearcase mechanical shift or some sort of electromechanical shift, as the older Johnnyrudes were? For mechanical shift motors, I would use a marine gear oil for mechanical shift motors. Most modern marine engine use it. Even Wallyworld usually carries it. If the...

    SS prop for?

Take a look at the spline length of the prop. Mercruiser and Mercury OB props have full length splines. Johnnyrude props have splines that are about 1/2 as long as the prop hub, starting from the prop nut, forward. Not sure what Yammie has. Luckily, larger OBs and MerCruisers share prop hub...

    Stainless Prop Film

That is not galvanic corrosion. I ran a SS prop in salt water, and used to get a bit of classic galvanic corrosion where the blades met the hub. I had zinc anodes and an impressed current (MerCathode) system on the boat. It protected the outdrive just fine. However, you might see if it is...

12' Pontoon/Fishing boat nose diving issues!!!!!

Is the motor shaft length correct for the boat? Longer shaft motors mounted on shorter shaft transoms, tend to drive the bow down. Trimming should help a bit, but raising the motor up on the transom is a better idea.
