    Replaced stator, rectifier, switch box... now what?

    89 mariner, 90 hp, 3 cyl. Replaced everything, rewired exactly as before. Turn the key, cranks but doesn't catch. I randomly disconnected the red wire from the stator at the switch box ---- fired up right away. What does that mean?
