Have 1982 25hp Mercury, not used excessively over its life, started acting up and paid $55.00 to have the mechanic tell me the front drive gear and pinion gear are probably gone ( had metal shavings in the oil drain magnet), said it's about 2k to replace and not worth it. Other than that issue...
