So, my 2025 Bayliner VR5 200 hp 4.5L mercruiser STILL barely pulls me up

It sounds like your boat would benefit from adjustable trim tabs, like Bennet makes. I had an 18' SeaRay with a 4.3LX motor (205HP), that was butt heavy. It was never a good slalom boat as the wake was a bit large, but it could pull up a slalom skier just fine. With the trim tabs all the...

Lower gear oil drain plug seal for Johnson outboard

I use a hand impact driver to tighten the gearcase plugs. If you are strong and have a big, slotted screwdriver, you can tighten by hand.

Lower gear oil drain plug seal for Johnson outboard

Those blue seals are avail on Amazon, as well as a lot of places. Just order Johnnyrude or Mercury ones. They are the same. Yammies are a bit smaller...

Lower gear oil drain plug seal for Johnson outboard

3/8-16 is a spec for a bolt. Is that what you are asking? I would expect you could ask for a generic J/E plug. Don't forget the fiber gasket.

So, my 2025 Bayliner VR5 200 hp 4.5L mercruiser STILL barely pulls me up

Gee, a lot of getting up slalom is technique. You can fight the boat's pull, or you can choose to not fight it. Fighting often means not getting up. When I deep water start, I drag my left foot and try to tuck the ski under my butt. Also, make your torso as thin as possible to the pull of...

    Spring replacement?

You might check the original spring bolt grade. I expect they will be grade 5 or higher. SS bolts are grade 2 and significantly weaker than grade 5. You do not want those to break at the wrong time. Also, the bushings are rubber and are packed 2 per side of the spring. They help cushion...

1993 Mercruiser 350 Ski Magnum carbed oil type

Scott, I am simply wondering aloud why people do not run the oil specified for their motors. It seems pretty easy to me.

You realize that 100::1 was un recommended some years ago, right?

1993 Mercruiser 350 Ski Magnum carbed oil type

OK, I am frustrated. Why is it that you cannot use what the OEM recommended? Is it cost? Is it genital size? Is it some version of "they don't want you to know"? Just wondering?

Sea Pro 195 F/S fuel tank size

Pull up any hatches and see if the fuel level sender is there. Look for a tag on the tank. If that doesn't get it, you may need to look under the console. Alternatively, drain it into Jerry cans. Figure it to be about 40Gal.

1993 Mercruiser 350 Ski Magnum carbed oil type

Scott, Is your engine made by Michigan Motors? Now my knowledge is dated, but my MerCruiser called for SAE-30 or SAE-40 or the Quicksilver 25W-40. I have seen newer four cycle marine motors that specified an FC-W oil, but never diesel motor oil. Run what you want, but please update us on the...

Mercruiser 3.0 started twice perfectly overfilled the gas now won't start

Sure, just like those 60's cars needed to clear a flooded engine. Use the screwdriver to prop the choke open. Set the throttle to full in neutral. Crank it until she fires, and then pull back on the throttle quickly to stop her from high RPM.

Mercury 80 hp portable fuel tank

As was said. 2 cycle oil mixes very well with gasoline, especially in a portable tank. The 2 cycle OB OEMs recommend you put 1 gal of gasoline into a portable tank and then add the oil. Now shake the tank to mix it. Now fill the tank.

1993 Mercruiser 350 Ski Magnum carbed oil type

Automotive multivis oil is not recommended for sterndrive or OB boats. It does not have the warm viscosity to protect the engine under the high loads of water cooled, 4 cycle, marine engines. I do not know if the diesel oils protect or not. Now I have never run auto oil in my sterndrive, and...

    Fuel for older Evinrude/ Johnson

Gee, I have had no issue with my carbs in the last 20 years. I think it is because the e10 keeps the carbs and fuel system clean. I run a stabilizer in the fall and leave the carbs full over the winter. In the spring, she starts right up and runs perfectly.
