The original 1985 VRO may not have had a " no oil " warning feature.----The VRO is a simple device.----Easy to take apart for inspection / testing.-----Post the compression test values before you spend any $$ on this motor.
Not the first one to make this mistake.------0322907 at about $40 each for 6 of them.----Don't worry about others.-----Why did you replace VRO?----What trouble shooting was done , if any ?
At $600 it looks to be a good deal if the motor is a 73 or newer.----Looks like that motor is older with electric shift and trouble some battery electronic ignition.
Explain.-----What is your motor doing / not doing ?----What elevation are you running at ?-----Which jets do you want to change and why ?----The 150 and 175 hp jets are listed together.
Sorry----I was not there looking over your shoulder.----I can only go by pictures presented here.---Typical of running without thrust washer.-----On more than one occasion have I seen mystery damage done on motors.------Good luck with the repairs.
To me it is obvious that this lower unit was run with no thrust washer ( wrong one ?? ) and damaged the precision surfaces.-----Hence the difficulty in a simple job of pulling the bearing carrier.
To me it sounds like the classic ----lean sneeze-----Caused by low speed needle in too far.---Or throttle plate opening too early.-----Easy fix in my opinion.
