    Sorry to say, but knocking on things will tell you nothing. You really need to drill test holes and inspect the shavings for moisture or rot.

    I didn’t find plugging the foam pour-in holes and relief holes to bo all that arduous. frankly, the idea of trying to shave off the foam after pouring it at the perfect level so the deck will sit correctly sounds like much more of a pain in the butt.

    Ok, just worried the engine wasn’t drained. Lowering the outdrive and letting it sit would not get the water out of the engine block; only pulling the drain plugs would accomplish that. yes the engine was drained before it was stored, that should be no problem.

    Did you drain the water from the engine after the boat was last used? If not, you might have bigger problems, like a cracked engine block.

    A lot of members here who are really good at keeping up with maintenance like the greasable gimbal bearings. However, I have not heard of many problem with the sealed bearings. (Sealed bearings are used in all kinds of vehicles, so they're nothing new.) Personally, I'd go OEM.

    I used a holesaw, but that really only works if you cut that part first. If you’ve already made the rest of the cut out, there is nothing for the holesaw to grab into.

    Tongue weight, single axle vs tandem

    On a number of F150 forums I visit, they will tell you the 10% rule for tomgue weights isn’t necessary due to a boat’s wind-slicing profile. Concensus there is 6-8% tongue weight for most boats. 10-15% is for flat-front travel trailers and such.
